Cooking over firewood in Peru is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. Unfortunately, this way of preparing food causes many women to suffer from back pain, respiratory diseases, cataracts, among others.<\/p>\n
Mar\u00eda Vitalia, our first beneficiary in Yon\u00e1n, Cajamarca, told us that since she was 28 years old she suffered from back pain. She always cooked her food crouching or “folded in two”, as she usually says, and even sitting down. Now, almost 85 years old, the pains have intensified.<\/p>\n
After the process of building the improved kitchen, Mar\u00eda stated that it will be the first time that she will cook standing up and completely upright. \u201cMany thanks to the Tullpa+ project. For as long as I can remember I have never prepared my food stop,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
