Goremad meets with different actors in the region to implement the PJ REDD+ to reduce deforestation in Madre de Dios

The purpose of the meetings was to socialize the Madre de Dios REDD+ Jurisdictional Program and coordinate the holding of informative workshops with the actors.

Within the framework of the REDD+ Madre de Dios Jurisdictional Program to reduce deforestation, Regional Government officials held 3 work meetings between October 24 and 25, which included the participation of different representatives of agricultural and forestry associations, NGOs, and organizations public and private; The meetings had the objective of socializing, informing and coordinating the realization of informative workshops in different places of the region, where the opinions and contributions of the actors will be collected.

The first meeting was held on October 24 in the auditorium of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, and was attended by representatives of associations such as PALSAMAD, APAYCNA, cooperatives such as COOPSSUR, COOPADI, AGROBOSQUE, and representatives of public and private organizations such as INIA. , GCF, officials of the district municipality of Las Piedras, etc.

Likewise, the second meeting was held on October 25 in the morning at the International Technical Cooperation office, and was attended by 2 elected mayors for the 2023-2026 administration (Darío Copa Alarcón – provincial mayor of Tahuamanu and Martín Chacacanta Estrada – district mayor of Las Piedras). Likewise, there was the participation of representatives of timber and non-timber concessions, such as RONAP, Consolidado Otorongo, ASCART, FEPROCAMD, etc.

Similarly, in the afternoon the third meeting was held with the participation of representatives of organizations such as AFIMAD, the National Forest Conservation Program and the NGO CESVI.

During the meetings, valuable contributions were collected from the invited actors, who proposed innovative proposals for the participatory consultation process for the implementation of the PJ REDD+ MDD.

Finally, the REDD+ Madre de Dios Jurisdictional Program seeks to reduce deforestation and support the implementation of the Low Emissions Regional Rural Development Strategy (ERDRBE), the Concerted Regional Development Plan and the Climate Change Strategy.

It should be remembered that Goremad has signed the Agreement on Cooperation and Sustainable Development and Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions with the company Mercuria.
